Sunday Travel Update – I Love Louisville, KY!

All of the seasons are amazing in Louisville, KY. The winters are cold and snowy, while the summers are very hot, and humid. In the spring, trees, flowers, grasses and plants bloom all over the place which brings a lot of beautiful life and color to all the scenery. In the fall, everything turns beautiful shades of red and then just goes away for the winter. I have been living here for over a year but cannot pick which one is my favorite.
Sometimes the winters here are very cold, and there will be both snow and ice which can completely shut down their roads. Even though, this can be convenient, sometimes this means school is cancelled and a lot of people are very happy. Since they cannot go to school or work, and the roads are shut down, people go outside and ride sleds down hills. I had never seen a real snowman before I moved here, and now I have seen a whole snowman town in my neighborhood.
When the winter ends, and it starts to get warm, Spring is also very beautiful in Louisville. There is a lot of rain, which makes all the plants come back to life very fast. There are many great smells because of this, including honeysuckle which is amazing. At the beginning of Spring, people are wearing coats and gloves, but at the end of Spring, they start to wear shorts. Spring is a great time for people who like to show off different fashions.
The summer here is very hot, so almost everyone wears shorts during the summer. The state is not near an ocean, but there are a lot of lakes and rivers. A lot of people love the summer activities such as boats and swimming during these hot summers. On really hot days, it feels great to sit outside and drink nice cold drinks like Coca-Cola, or even lemonade.
There is something to do and see outside at every time of the year in Louisville, KY and I always recommend to my friends that they should visit here too. Whether you want to throw snowballs and go sledding, play in the rains and watch plants bloom, or have a cold drink sitting on a boat, this place will put a smile on your face. Louisville looks forward to seeing you soon.

What IS "Hot ESL Travel Spots"?

This is a blog that will showcase the work of ESL and EFL students who are working on their reading and writing skills.

Students will write articles discussing places they have traveled while studying the English language. They will discuss what they have liked, or in some cases not liked so much, about those various destinations. You will read about their most and least favorite places in the whole English-speaking world.

These writers may speak directly to other ESL/EFL students around the world, recommending to their fellow students all the places they should visit, or avoid, and why! Discussions will certainly be allowed, so feel free to comment on any article at any time, and share your own experiences and viewpoints about the place being discussed.

We also want to hear from YOU! If you would like to write for us, please check out the blog posting below for the guidelines.

Thanks for stopping by!

GUIDELINES (Post from HotEslTravel.blogspot.com):

Hello! Hot ESL Travel Spots is a Travel Blog where ESL Students tell other ESL and EFL Students (and the whole world!) about the places they have traveled during their studies of the English language. Students will tell you reasons to visit, or avoid, places all over the United States and the rest of the English-speaking world!

If YOU are interested in writing an article for us, please follow these GUIDELINES:

1) Please give your article a title. We suggest that the title be used to grab the attention of the reader, letting them know immediately at least where you visited, and whether you liked it or hated it.

2) Please use 12 point font size with "Times New Roman" as the font

3) Please indent each paragraph

4) Double space the entire article.

5) Maintain one inch margins on top, bottom and sides.

6) Your article should contain at least FIVE PARAGRAPHS (Introduction, 3 Reasons you Like/Don't Like, Conclusion):
-The first paragraph should provide a basic introduction. Your first sentence should also be very effective at continuing to grab the attention of your readers.
-Paragraphs 2-4 should each provide and describe the three reasons you really like and recommend visiting this location, or place; or three reasons you did not like it, and recommend avoiding.
